Who is Akdital?

Founded in 2011 in Casablanca by Dr Rochdi Talib, Akdital runs private clinics and hospitals with many specialities. Its strategy is to open new facilities in many Moroccan cities, including medium-sized cities with little private healthcare, and to develop specialities such as cancer care, cardiology and emergency medicine.

A closely watched IPO

Akdital listed in December 2022. Since then, it has become one of the growth stocks most followed by Moroccan individual investors, driven by the fast opening of new hospitals and rising revenue.

Growth drivers

  • Wider health insurance coverage in Morocco, so more patients can use private care.
  • A fast-growing national network, with new hospitals every year.
  • Higher-value specialities.
  • Regional ambitions beyond Morocco.

Risks to watch

  • Pace of openings: each new hospital takes time to become profitable.
  • Hiring doctors and nurses: shortages can slow growth.
  • Rules and prices set with health insurers.
  • A growth valuation: high expectations make the share sensitive to any disappointment.
